Dot & Lil
Dot & Lil make handmade bar soap, soy candles and milk baths in a small range of scents — bergamot and honeysuckle soaps, and a rice flower line that runs across the milk bath and a candle.
Handmade in Canada, vegan and cruelty-free.

The rice flower line hangs together
Most of this range is standalone, but rice flower runs across three things — the milk bath, a soy candle, and a bundle that puts the milk bath, the candle and a scrubber together.
That bundle is the one to reach for as a gift. It is a complete thing rather than a single item, and the scent is consistent across all of it, which is what makes a set feel considered rather than assembled.
What is a milk bath?
A powder you tip under running water rather than a liquid or a bomb. Milk powder and starches soften the water and leave skin feeling less tight afterwards, which suits skin that finds a salt soak drying.
It does not foam. If you are expecting bubbles you will be disappointed — this is a soak, not a bubble bath.
The soaps and candles
- Bergamot soap — citrus and slightly bitter, the fresher of the two
- Honeysuckle soap — sweet and floral
- Rice flower soy candle — matches the milk bath
- Lavender & hibiscus soy candle — the softer, evening one
First burn on a soy candle
Let the melted wax reach the edge of the glass on the first burn, which usually takes two to three hours. Soy has a memory — put it out early and it will tunnel down the middle every time after, leaving wax stuck to the sides.
Trim the wick to about 5 mm before each light to stop it smoking.
