More about LONG WKND

Four pairs, and what scents them

Each shampoo bar has a conditioner bar of the same name. Unusually, the scent is part of the choice here rather than an afterthought — each pair is built on a different essential oil blend.

The unscented pair is the one worth knowing about

Plenty of brands offer an unscented shampoo bar. Very few offer an unscented conditioner to go with it, which leaves anyone avoiding fragrance having to mix a plain shampoo with a scented conditioner and lose the point.

LONG WKND make both. If you are sensitive to fragrance, pregnant, or simply do not want your hair to smell of anything, that pair is the reason to look here rather than elsewhere.

Essential oils are still fragrance

Worth saying plainly, because “scented with essential oils” is often read as “suitable for sensitive skin”. It is not the same claim. Essential oils are naturally derived, but they are still aromatic compounds and can still irritate a reactive scalp — peppermint and citrus especially.

If your scalp reacts to things, start with the unscented pair rather than assuming a natural scent will be gentler.

Right now: conditioners in, shampoos out

Being straight with you — all four conditioner bars are in stock and all four shampoo bars are currently between batches. LONG WKND is a small-batch maker, so runs sell through and return rather than sitting on a shelf.

If you want a full pair today you will need to pair a LONG WKND conditioner with another brand's shampoo, which works fine but is not what the pairing is designed for. Otherwise it is worth waiting for the next run.
