routine
routine make aluminum-free natural deodorant in cream jars, sticks and 5 g travel minis — then run the same scents across body oils, body mists, solid perfume balms and a lip balm.
Every product in this collection is made in Canada. Because most scents exist in more than one format and more than one formula, the easiest way in is to choose a scent first and the rest after.
More about routine
Choose the scent first
routine name their scents rather than describing them, which makes the list hard to scan. Grouped by what the products themselves say they smell of:
- Woody and resinous — Johnny's Cash (woodsy pine), Reuben & the Desert (palo santo, tobacco, vetiver), The Curator (eucalyptus, geranium, black spruce), Dirty Hipster (patchouli), So & So (sandalwood, cedar, amber)
- Floral — Lucy in the Sky (lavender and vanilla), Moon Sisters (rose and lavender), Sweet Jane (wild rose and vanilla)
- Sweet and fruity — Cat Lady (coconut, pineapple, vanilla), Bonita Applebom (spiced apple), A Girl Named Sue (raspberry and sage), Blackberry Betty (vanilla)
- Warm and spiced — Superstar (tonka, sage, cardamom), The Class (orris, jasmine, tonka)
- Unscented — Bonnie n' Clyde
Then choose the format
| Format | Notes |
|---|---|
| Cream jar, 58 g | The original. Applied with fingers, plastic-free glass jar |
| Stick, 50 g | Push-up tube if you would rather not use fingers |
| Mini jar, 5 g | Travel size — and the cheapest way to test a scent |
| Body oil | Same scent for the whole body |
| Mist, 200 ml | Multi-use spray for body, hair and room |
| Perfume balm | Solid perfume, for the scent on its own |
Regular, baking soda free, or vegan?
Most scents are made in more than one formula, which is the useful part — you do not have to give up the scent you like to get the version that suits your skin.
- Baking soda free — tagged for sensitive skin. Choose this if a natural deodorant has left you itchy or red before
- Vegan — made without beeswax
- Maximum strength — Like a Boss, on the baking soda formula
Check the product title before adding to cart: several scents appear more than once in this collection because the same name is sold in more than one formula.
Try a 5 g mini before a full jar
Scent is the whole decision here, and a name like “Reuben & the Desert” tells you very little about whether you will want to smell of it every day. The 5 g minis exist for that — a fraction of the price of a 58 g jar, and enough to live with a scent for a couple of weeks.
They are also the sensible thing to pack, since a full glass jar is heavy for a weekend.
