Humble
Humble makes natural deodorant in a push-up tube, with a scent list that runs from palo santo and frankincense through lemongrass and sage to mountain lavender and moroccan rose.
It comes in a few different formulations — the classic, a vegan version, and a plastic-free tube — plus a handful of soap bars in matching scents.
More about Humble
Which Humble formulation should I pick?
Humble sells the same scents across three formulations, which is the part people find confusing. The scent is not the choice — the formulation is.
| Version | Pick it if |
|---|---|
| All natural | The original. The default unless one of the others applies |
| Vegan | You avoid animal-derived ingredients |
| Plastic free | Same stick, in a paper tube instead of a plastic one |
Each formulation is set out in full, with what is in stock in each, on the Humble deodorant picker.
What happens when you switch from antiperspirant?
A natural deodorant is not an antiperspirant. It works on the bacteria that cause odour, not on the sweating itself, so you will still sweat — that is the intended behaviour rather than the product failing.
Most people also go through a couple of weeks where they smell more than usual after coming off an aluminum antiperspirant. It settles. Give a new deodorant a fortnight before deciding it does not work for you, and reapply after exercise rather than expecting all-day coverage from a morning application.
Which scent?
The list is long, so it helps to think in families rather than reading all of them.
- Woody and resinous — palo santo & frankincense, black spruce, patchouli & copal
- Fresh and herbal — lemongrass & sage, rosemary & mint, geranium & vetiver
- Floral — mountain lavender, moroccan rose, lavender & holy basil
- Warm and citrus — bergamot & ginger, sweet orange & cinnamon, texas cedarwood & grapefruit
There is a simply unscented one as well, for anyone who would rather their deodorant did not compete with everything else they wear.
The soap bars
Humble also makes bar soap in four of the same scents — patchouli & copal, star anise & palmarosa, lemongrass & sage and mountain lavender — which is an easy way to match a shower to a deodorant without layering two different scent stories.
