How to use it

The Wildcraft routine, in five steps

Wildcraft names its products by what they do rather than by line, so once you know the five steps the whole range reads in order. The rule that holds it together: thinnest textures go on first, richest last. You do not need all five to start — a cleanser, a moisturiser and one treatment will carry most skin.

Step one

Cleanse

Everything after this works better on properly cleaned skin. Wildcraft makes four and they are genuinely different, not four scents of the same formula — pick the one that matches your skin rather than collecting them. The gel with yuzu and white tea is the brightening one and the usual starting point. The oil with tea tree and marshmallow suits congested or breakout-prone skin, and takes makeup off as it goes. Neither cream cleanser foams: chamomile and kaolin is the gentlest of the four, for dry or reactive skin, while papaya and pomegranate is the resurfacing one.

Step two

Tone

A toner is the fastest way to put water back into skin, and it works best misted on straight after cleansing while the skin is still damp. Balance is the hydrating one, built on aloe and orange blossom. Clarify leans on witch hazel and rose, for skin that turns oily through the day.

Step three

Treat

This is where the actives live and where you will see the biggest difference. Serums go on before cream, thinnest first. You do not need four — pick by what you are actually trying to change. Brighten is vitamin C for dullness and uneven tone, a morning product. Revive is the bio-retinol for texture and fine lines, at night. Refine and Regenerate are the gentler daily oils.

Step four

Moisturise

The step that seals in everything underneath and stops the rest evaporating off. Restore is the rich one, for dry, dehydrated or mature skin. Calm is a lighter lotion aimed at redness and sensitivity. Clarify is for breakout-prone skin that still needs hydration.

Step five

Eyes

The skin around the eye is thinner than the rest of your face and it shows age first, which is the whole argument for a separate product. Renew is the overnight oil for dark circles and dryness. Pure Radiance is the lighter vitamin C cream for mornings and puffiness.

Can I use vitamin C and retinol together?

Both, yes — but not in the same application. Vitamin C in the morning, bio-retinol at night. That keeps them apart and puts the antioxidant where daylight makes it most useful.

Introduce a retinol slowly: two or three nights a week to start, building up if your skin stays comfortable. If you are pregnant, or already using a prescription retinoid or acne treatment, check with your doctor or dermatologist before adding one.
